Road Safety Partnership

Road Safety Starts with Good Vision

Did you know that the World Health Organization declares poor eyesight among the main factors for road crashes?1

  • Poor vision can notably slow down your reaction time.2

  • 1 in 5 drivers can’t see the road clearly due to uncorrected poor vision.3

  • Glare, during the day or night, is the most complained about visual discomfort4-5 by drivers and slows both detection6 and reaction time.7

•  80% of all vision impairments can be prevented or cured.8

•  At the wheel, more than 90% of decisions and reactions depend on good vision. So, sight is the most important factor in making decisions on the road.

Check your vision

Road safety starts with good vision.

To help reduce the number of accidents on the road, Essilor has partnered with the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) to increase awareness and highlight the importance of good vision for road safety. The FIA has even added a new Golden Rule for Road Safety: Check your vision! Here are three tips to follow for good vision on the road:

Consult your optometrist for an eye exam to make sure your vision and your eye health are good.

Ask your eyecare professional about the best visual solution for your needs and lifestyle to protect your eyes from glare, both day and night.
